Your life is not what you want it to be right now. There’s something missing.
The same problem has been bugging you and you can’t seem to figure out how to fix it. You know you can but you’re stuck. You’re sick and tired of how things are. You’re tired of life being frustrating.
You want to be heard and listened to? You want a happy life. You want to be loved. You want to feel confidence again. You’re sick of worrying. You want to win at life again.
You need an expert. It’s time to take things back in control again, reimagine how you want your life to be and be given real solutions for the changed life you want.
I’m Nathan Hansen LPC, and I can help.
I’ve always been interested in trying to figure out why people make the choices they do and what they could do to live the life they want to.
I started Great Lakes Wellness Counseling to help people find real solutions for real life problems while walking side by side with experts who care.
My specialty areas are therapy for men, therapy for women, and counseling for young adults. I also provide limited aspect of counseling for veterans including PTSD evaluations.
I chose those areas because I come from a divorced home, have experienced life as a child of a single parent and been part of blended (step) families. I’m a husband, father, and business owner and understand the pressures men face. Looking back on my young adult life I wish I had some one to encourage me and guide me toward success areas in my life and have the confidence to do what I now am capable of doing.
In our therapy sessions together I use a variety of techniques, counseling theories, and impart life wisdom I’ve gained or had shared with me along the way. Most importantly I offer a place for you to be you without having to worry about it. A place for you to say whatever you need to and know that you’ll be listened to, understood, and accepted.
I’m trained in and provide professional counseling from a neutral psychological perspective. However, as a Christian, I can incorporate the Christian worldview into the counseling experience if you request it. If you don’t that’s fine too. Everyone I work with gets the same, and equal, amount of expert care I provide. Period.
When I’m not at the office, I like to spend my time with my wife, kids, extended family and friends. I like to run to clear my mind and relieve stress. I try to golf. I coach sports teams. I nerd out on tech stuff (like designing and building this website). I also build cigar box guitars. Learning new things keeps life interesting! I also enjoy tinkering around with various indoor and outdoor projects around the house. I’ve been a home brewer for almost a decade. I’m a bit of a coffee snob, as well.
I earned my BA in Social Work from Hope College in 2001. I received my MA in Counseling from Cornerstone University in 2010. I’ve worked in mental health care for over 15 years. I’ve worked in medical health care over 10 years. I worked in education both K-12 and higher education for almost 12 years. All of these experiences having given me a holistic perspective and unique approach in helping others through counseling.
