Looking for a Grandville Counselor? Hi there! I’m Nathan.
I am a licensed professional counselor and I’m glad you’re taking a moment to read about me. Since the relationship you have with your Grandville counselor is so important, I think it’s helpful to get to know me a little bit before you schedule a counseling appointment.
I’ve grown up in West Michigan. I’ve lived in the rural countryside, the city, and on the lakeshore. Like most people, I enjoy spending time with friends and family. My wife is a special education teacher. We have a son and a daughter. Outside of family time I enjoy running, golfing, handyman projects, cooking, reading, and technology.
I’ve always been interested in relationships and understanding why people make the choices they make and do the things they do. I want to help people have healthy relationships—with their friends, their family, their spouses, and even themselves. I’ve made it through a lot of difficult life experiences. I’m thankful for them and I believe it really helps me understand what you may be dealing with—because I’ve lived it too. This is why I’m a counselor.
I’m trained in providing professional counseling from a neutral psychological perspective. However, as a Christian, I can incorporate the Christian worldview into the counseling experience if you requests this. If you don’t that’s fine too. Anyone that I work with gets the same, and equal, amount of expert care I provide.
I use a variety of theories and techniques, tailored specifically for each person I work with. My style of counseling is down to earth, realistic, and honest. I believe the work I do is successful because of this. I offer a comfortable, caring, and judgment free place for you to share what’s on your mind and be listened to.
My specialty areas as a Grandville Counselor include marriage/couples counseling, premarital counseling, young adult counseling and counseling for individual adults who struggle with anxiety, depression, life transitions, career transitions, and grief.
I help couples proactively communicate their needs, wants, and desires in healthy and constructive ways. I provide couples with the tools to build a healthy foundation for their relationship, to make it stronger, happier, and fun to be a part of rather than miserable, full of arguments, isolation, feeling unloved, and wanting to giving up.
In my work with individuals I journey side by side with them as they search for hope when they are discouraged, help them find freedom from problems they face, and feel happy again.
I look forward to working with you.
