Women's Counseling in Jenison, MI
Hey girl, when is enough enough?
Do you feel trapped by life? The guilt has become overwhelming. Saying “yes” to everyone leaves no time for the things you enjoy. Constantly doubting yourself and worrying about what people think is wearing you out.
You don’t have to keep living this way. Women’s counseling at Great Lakes Wellness Counseling gives you a safe, judgment-free space to catch your breath, find your voice again, and take back control of your life. We meet with women in person at our Jenison office and online anywhere in Michigan. And when you reach out, you’ll hear back within 24 hours.
Does any of this sound familiar?
- “It took everything I had just to get out of bed this morning.”
- “I feel lost, and I’m not even sure why.”
- “I apologize to everyone for everything, even for just being me.”
- “I’ll never be who they want me to be.”
- “No matter what I do, I’m never good enough.”
- “I want to be more confident and stop letting people walk all over me.”
- “I’m doing the same thing over and over, and I’m so tired.”
Maybe you feel depressed, angry, or anxious. Maybe you’re carrying the weight of everyone else’s needs and there’s nothing left over for you.
This is your life. Your health matters. Just like you take care of your physical health, your mental health deserves care too. It’s not selfish. It’s necessary.
You are valued, worthy, and strong. And you don’t have to figure this out alone.
Why so many women feel stuck
Women often carry a unique set of expectations. Be the dependable employee. The patient mom. The supportive partner. The friend who always shows up. The daughter who handles everything.
Somewhere along the way, you stopped showing up for yourself.
That can leave you drained, isolated, and stuck. You might feel like you’re failing at all of it, even when you’re giving everything you’ve got. The negative voice in your head gets louder. The joy gets quieter.
Counseling for women’s issues helps you break that cycle. It won’t change who you are. It helps you get back to the strong, happy, confident person you already are underneath all that pressure.
What women's counseling can help with
Our therapists work with women facing a wide range of challenges. Here are some of the most common.
People-pleasing, guilt, and burnout
You say yes when you mean no. You feel guilty for resting. Counseling helps you set healthier limits, ask for what you need, and stop running on empty.
Self-doubt and negative self-talk
That critical inner voice can be relentless. In therapy, you’ll learn to notice it, challenge it, and replace it with a kinder, more supportive one.
Anxiety and depression
Racing thoughts. Constant worry. Days that feel heavy and gray. Our anxiety counseling and depression counseling help you understand what’s going on and give you practical ways to feel more balanced and in control.
Life transitions
Marriage, divorce, a new job, becoming a mom, kids leaving home. Even the changes you wanted can shake your sense of who you are. Counseling helps you find your footing in each new season.
Postpartum depression
Life with a new baby isn’t always what you pictured. If you’re feeling sad, overwhelmed, or disconnected after having a baby, you’re not failing. Support is available, and you can feel like yourself again.
Grief and loss
Whether you’ve lost a loved one, a relationship, or something else that mattered, grief can feel impossible to carry. We’ll help you find ways to cope that fit your experience.
Difficult relationships
Maybe you’re dealing with the aftermath of a hard relationship, or you’re stuck in patterns that keep repeating. Counseling helps you understand those patterns and build relationships that feel safer and healthier.
Trauma
Painful past experiences can shape how you see yourself and the world today. Our therapists offer trauma counseling at a pace that feels manageable, so you can begin to feel safe and steady again.
Overwhelm, ADHD, and substance use
If your mind feels scattered, or you’re coping in ways that no longer feel helpful, you’re not alone. Our team includes a therapist who specializes in ADHD, overwhelm, and substance use support.
Christian counseling for women
If you’d like to bring your faith into your counseling, we offer Christian counseling with several of our therapists. Just let us know when you first meet. If you’d rather not, that’s completely fine too.
How women's therapy helps you win every day
First, know that you’ve come to the right place. Our women’s counseling sessions happen in a comfortable, warm, inviting office, or from the comfort of your own home online. Either way, you’ll be talking with an expert who knows how to listen.
When you engage in women’s counseling, you’ll:
- Find your voice again
- Figure out what you need to make your life more fulfilling
- Get your confidence and happiness back
- Have a judgment-free space to vent, laugh, and cry
- Learn practical tools you can use in everyday life
Your therapist will work with you to build a plan that fits you. Not a one-size-fits-all program. A real plan for your real life, with someone by your side until you’ve made the changes that set you free.
What happens in women's therapy?
01 | You set up an appointment. Reach out by phone, email, or our client portal. We’ll respond within 24 hours, or the next business day on weekends.
02 | You clarify the changes you want. In your first session or two, your therapist gets to know you, reviews your history, explains confidentiality, and helps you name what you’d like to be different.
03 | You keep meeting until you find relief. Most women start with weekly sessions. As you make progress, you and your therapist may decide to meet less often.
Here’s what that can look like over time. The voice in your head starts saying kind things again. The voice that tells you you’re not good enough fades. You’ll be OK knowing you don’t have to have it all together, all figured out, all the time.
You won’t feel stuck anymore. People will see you as confident and assertive. Peace, joy, and hope come back into your days. And you’ll feel ready for whatever life throws at you.

Frequently asked questions about women's counseling
What is women’s counseling?
Women’s counseling is therapy focused on the challenges and expectations women often face, like people-pleasing, self-doubt, burnout, life transitions, motherhood, relationships, anxiety, and depression. It gives you a safe space to talk openly with a therapist who understands.
Do I have to be in crisis to start therapy?
Not at all. Many women come to counseling simply because they feel stuck, tired, or not like themselves. Wanting more for your life is a good enough reason to begin.
Can I see a female therapist?
Yes. Several women on our team offer women’s counseling. Let us know your preference when you reach out, and we’ll help you find a good fit.
Do you offer online counseling for women?
Yes. You can meet with your therapist online from anywhere in Michigan through our secure client portal. Most, but not all, insurance plans cover online therapy, so check your behavioral health benefits.
What if my therapist isn’t the right fit?
That’s completely normal. Give it a few sessions, and if it still doesn’t feel right, we’ll help you find a better match on our team or refer you to another trusted practice.
It's time to say “yes” to you
You can’t say yes to everyone else and never say yes to yourself. Life will get better. The peace will come back. You’ll feel like you again.
Don’t wait any longer than you have to, friend. Call (616) 202-5014, email office@greatlakeswellnesscounseling.com, or book through our client portal. Start your women’s counseling today!
